Kennedy ad reminds us that prosecutor can't do it all 10/7/2006 Letter to the Editor
Mike Martin Indianapolis
The Indianapolis Star
I would like to comment on the distasteful use of the city's worst mass murder as a political tool. Melina Kennedy's camp showed the utmost disrespect to the Covarrubias family by referring to their great loss in their most recent commercial. If you're going to point fingers, at least point them in the right direction. Maybe if Sheriff Frank Anderson didn't have the jail overcrowded and Mayor Bart Peterson would have put public safety first by addressing the jail-overcrowding problem instead of an overpriced sports stadium, the murders may never have happened. The prosecutor's office is just one department of many, and without the help of all departments involved in city government, crime will continue to rise while the city's status drops even lower.
