Message from Carl 11/27/2006 Thank You from Carl
I cannot even begin to thank everyone for all of the help and support I received during these last crucial months of the campaign. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone who knocked on doors, made phone calls, worked a precinct, or put up a yard sign. Our victory wouldn't have been possible without the countless hours that our volunteers dedicated to our efforts.
When we kicked off our campaign earlier this year, I promised that we would conduct the largest grassroots campaign that Marion County had ever seen, and I'm proud to say we followed through on that. Over the last four days of the campaign alone, we had over 1,000 volunteers making over 150,000 phone calls and knocking on over 10,000 doors. The efforts of those volunteers and our grassroots campaign made a big difference on Election Day.
I also want to thank Marion County Republican Party Chairman Mike Murphy and the Township, Ward and Precinct leaders for their dedication and support. I would especially like to thank everyone in the townships who took the campaign message to their friends and neighbors.
On that night I addressed the citizens of Marion County in my victory speech; "Tonight, the voters decided that experience matters and that public safety is more important than the political consolidation of power. We must continue to work together to hold our city leaders accountable - to make Indianapolis as safe as it can be. I've said it before but I mean it when I say we are fighting for the soul of our city. Tonight was step one and we have every reason to celebrate. But tomorrow, we must return to the business of public safety and we must not stop until it is the number one priority of each and every one of our city leaders!"
Now that the election is over, it is time to get to work finding new and innovative ways to combat crime in our community. You continue to have my promise that my first thought when I wake up every day will be the same as my last thought before I go to sleep every night and that is how to make our community a safer place in which to live.
Thank you again for all of your help and support,
Carl
